Addressing Systemic Racism and Social Inequity in Massachusetts with the New Commonwealth Racial Equity and Social Justice Fund
The sustained presence of historic inequality and longstanding policies have disproportionately impacted Black and Brown communities. In 2020, a coalition of Black and Brown executives in Massachusetts launched a new fund focused initially on supporting Black and Brown organizations that are working on issues such as policing and criminal justice reform, health care equity, economic empowerment, and youth civic engagement.

You are invited to join Nutter’s webinar with leaders of the New Commonwealth Racial Equity and Social Justice Fund (NCF).

The New Commonwealth Racial Equity and Social Justice Fund’s mission is to change philanthropic and corporate giving by creating a more equitable funding process and steering more money to nonprofits with Black and Brown leadership. In November 2020, the fund awarded its first grants—a total of $1 million to 20 organizations throughout Massachusetts focused on addressing the disproportionate impact of COVID-19 on Black and Brown communities. Leaders of the New Commonwealth Racial Equity and Social Justice Fund say that it is time to change the narrative on race in Boston.
